Childrens Media Use: Achieving a Healthy Balance

Wednesday, February 15, 2017

Duxbury, MA...February 14, 2017 – On Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 7:00pm in the Presentation Hall at Duxbury Middle/High School, The Parent Connection and Bay Farm Montessori Academy will host a special presentation by Dr. Michael Rich, Director of the Center on Media and Child Health at Children’s Hospital in Boston, Harvard Medical School, and Harvard School of Public Health.  A pediatrician, researcher, and father, Dr. Rich will speak to parents of young children, tweens, and teens on achieving a healthy balance in your child’s media diet.

Kids today have access to more media than ever.  Texting, tweeting, snapchatting, web surfing, watching videos, etc. –  young children, tweens, and teens can stay connected 24/7.  What are they doing with the media?  More importantly, what are they not doing as a result of the media frenzy?  How can families establish healthy habits when it comes to media use?

Dr. Rich’s well known persona, “The Mediatrician”, will offer research-based answers to parents’ questions about children’s media use and implications for their health and development. He will provide tools to empower parents and caregivers to make better-informed choices regarding their children’s “media diets”.  Dr. Rich will present information and strategies that are balanced, practical, and based in scientific evidence.

Tickets for this event are $7.00 in advance or $10.00 at the door and can be purchased in the office at Bay Farm Montessori Academy (145 Loring Street, Duxbury) or online at: www.theparentconnection.org.
