Please plan to attend the Middle School Book & Bake Sale on Tuesday, March 28th from 3:15-4:15 in the Middle School. The students will be selling used books, CDs, and DVDs, along with baked goods. This year, in addition to a fabulous ice cream sundae bar, they are featuring raffle baskets:
- A $25.00 gift card to Regal Cinema and a bucket of candy
- Nordstrom workout-out pants, scarf, and two watches valued at $100.00
- A $25.00 gift card to Pinz and a $25.00 gift card to Bar Rustic in Kingston
- A basket of assorted sports equipment and a $25.00 gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods
As part of their micro-economy project, the middle schoolers are recycling used books, CDs, and DVDs that are in great condition and selling them on Amazon.com. Their online bookstore can be found here. They have been doing this for about five years, working together to run a small business while learning good business practice, customer service, and responsibility. Each year, they give the Bay Farm community the opportunity to purchase books on campus. The proceeds raised will go toward their class trip in the spring.
Last week, Bay Farm co-hosted a special presentation by Dr. Michael Rich, Director of the Center on Media and Child Health at Children’s Hospital in Boston, Harvard Medical School, and Harvard School of Public Health. Hauke Kite-Powell wrote a concise summary of this talk, which you can read on the Parent Education page on Bay Farm’s website.
