Infant/Toddler Teacher

Bay Farm Montessori Academy is searching for a passionate, Montessori-trained teacher to lead an Infant/Toddler room.  Our Toddler House is above capacity and we are excited to be opening a third Infant/Toddler room for the 2019-2020 school year. Bay Farm’s Toddler House Montessori lead teacher will help prepare a Montessori environment that challenges each child to reach their fullest potential. The teacher is also responsible for maintaining the operation of the classroom in accordance with state licensing requirements. The Montessori teacher performs his/her services under the direction and supervision of the Head of School. Working hours are 8.00 AM to 4.00 PM including prep time. The starting date for the position is August 15, 2019.


Qualifications:
Montessori teaching credential.

Department of Early Education and Care Teacher certified for infant/toddlers
Experience planning and implementing the Montessori curriculum. 

Experience giving appropriate presentations

Experience establishing and maintaining a record keeping system to track children’s progress.
Strong interpersonal skills are necessary.
Amazing collaborative skills -children, parents, staff members.
A positive and open attitude toward all children is a requirement.


Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for preparation of the classroom environment, materials and equipment; ensures that all materials are in good repair and all sets complete. Develops and makes materials when needed.
Plan and implement the Montessori curriculum. Give appropriate presentations and establish a record keeping system to track the children’s progress.
Supervise the classroom assistant, aide, interns, substitutes, and parent volunteers. Provide necessary instruction and training for those assisting in the classroom environment.
Promote good communication among staff members.
Ensure respectful and open lines of communication with parents. Be available to parents through written communication, setting up conferences, and educating parents in Montessori philosophy.
Be a community leader, responsible for the school in the absence of an administrator.

Ensure the classroom and staff are compliant with EEC regulations.

Children's House Assistant Teacher

Bay Farm’s Children's House assistant teacher will help prepare a Montessori environment that challenges each child to reach their fullest potential under the direction of the Lead Teacher. The assistant teacher is also responsible for maintaining the operation of the classroom in accordance with state licensing requirements. The assistant teacher performs his/her services under the direction and supervision of the Head of School. Working hours are 8.00 AM to 4.00 PM including prep time. The starting date for the position is August 15, 2019.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Lead Teacher in the preparation and maintenance of classroom materials, environment, and curriculum.
  • Classroom teaching, assist children with toileting and hygiene.
  • Assist Lead Teacher in keeping excellent student records.
  • Develop a mutually beneficial relationship with parents of students through ongoing responsible, timely, and respectful communication.
  • Participation in staff meetings, training, school events (e .g., Curriculum Nights, Parent Nights, Up-Grade Meetings, etc.)
  • Collaborate with coworkers to provide the best possible educational experience for students.
  • When requested, participate in meetings and reviews for students with special needs.
  • Represent the school in a positive light, whether in or out of school.

Requirements:

  • Experience preferably in early childhood education.
  • Willingness to pursue certification with the State of Mass.
  • Interest in Montessori philosophy
  • A strong desire for ongoing learning about teaching, children, education and Montessori.

Maintenance Assistant

We are seeking a Maintenance Assistant to work under the supervision of the Director of Facilities to assist with all areas of campus maintenance. We are in the process of several large projects on campus and are in search of a candidate that is self reliant with a strong attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities:
We are looking for someone to help with a variety of different tasks, including but not limited to:
Restocking supply closets
Trash and recycling
Snow removal - may require additional hours
Landscaping (Weeding, collecting leaves, spreading mulch, watering plants, mowing lawn)
Monitor building safety and security
Minor repair work (Toilets, door handles, minor leaks, reporting damages and major repairs)
Assist the Director of Facilities when needed

Requirements:
Are you able to lift and move 50 lbs?
Are you able to help with snow removal (potentially extra hours required)?
Do you have experience with minor repairs?

Substitute Teachers

Bay Farm is seeking people who would like to serve as substitute teachers on an irregular basis. Skills in interpersonal relations with students, parents, teachers, and staff are necessary. Montessori-trained teachers or those interested in being trained as Montessori teachers are encouraged to apply. Montessori experience is not required, but experience working with children is preferred.
