Alumni Perspectives

“The years I spent at Bay Farm were not only some of the most enjoyable experiences of my life, but were instrumental in my development as a student and individual. I struggled greatly in the public school system and I can confidently say without transferring to Bay Farm I would not be where I am today. In a Montessori setting I received patient and caring instruction from my teachers and was given the freedom to explore what interested me. I left Bay Farm as a successful, curious, and self-possessed student ready to transition to a traditional classroom setting.”

- Ian Ikeada (Grade 6 Graduate), Brown University School of Medicine

“At Bay Farm I was given the tools to not only progress in my learning, but also to advocate for myself and my needs in order to reach my full potential. The values that were cultivated at Bay Farm have led me at Sacred Heart to the honor society, cross country team, and the theater program. During my time on the cross country team, I was named MVP as a freshman. I spent this summer in Costa Rica working on an animal rescue project with other passionate high school students. The confidence that I developed from Bay Farm’s drama program and from the chances to present work to our peers, the independence that I gained from the opportunity to take control of my own learning, and the creativity I obtained from the unique learning environment and education program, have led me to prosper in school and other programs.”

- Nicole Johnson '17 (Toddler House - Grade 8) Sacred Heart

“When I think of Bay Farm, I think of family, community, confidence, and courage. The Bay Farm environment helped me succeed through my academics and guide me to a brighter future by allowing me to make choices and to work independently. We were encouraged to take academic chances and to learn from our mistakes in a safe and trusting environment. After graduating from Rising Tide High School in 2016, I decided to pursue helping others by becoming an EMT and I now work full time as an EMT in Brockton. I have decided to further my scope of practice in the field by starting a 2 year program in paramedic school. Bay Farm was a fundamental stepping stone in my academic and professional career.”

- Daniel McKale '12 (Toddler House - Grade 8) Rising Tide High School
