Bay Farm Montessori Academy’s Agriculture Teacher Honored as 2025 Massachusetts Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher of the Year
Duxbury, MA – January 13, 2025 – Bay Farm Montessori Academy proudly announces that Evelyn (Evey) Golden, our beloved Agriculture Teacher, has been named the 2025 Massachusetts Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher of the Year. This prestigious honor recognizes Evey’s outstanding dedication to integrating agricultural education into the classroom and inspiring the next generation of environmentally conscious leaders.
Selected from educators across the state, Evey was celebrated for her innovative teaching methods that bring agriculture to life for students. Through hands-on experiences, project-based learning, and a Montessori-inspired approach, Evey helps students understand the vital role of agriculture in their daily lives, fostering a deep connection to the environment and sustainable practices.
At Bay Farm Montessori Academy, Evey oversees the thriving agriculture program, which includes coordinating seasonal planting projects, managing the school’s gardens, and integrating agricultural studies into the Bay Farm curriculum for students of all ages. A key element of Evey’s instruction focuses on incorporating STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) principles into agricultural studies. By using design thinking as a framework, students engage in solving real-world challenges that blend science, creativity, and critical thinking. This interdisciplinary approach not only enriches their understanding of agriculture but also equips them with essential problem-solving skills for the future.
“Our students benefit immensely from Evey’s passion for agriculture and environmental stewardship,” said Grainne Murray, Head of School at Bay Farm Montessori Academy. “This award is a testament to her creativity, dedication, and ability to instill in our students a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.”
As part of this recognition, Evey will represent Bay Farm Montessori Academy at the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in Minnesota, where she will share her innovative practices with educators nationwide.
Bay Farm Montessori Academy is deeply proud of this achievement and remains committed to fostering an environment where students can grow with joy, purpose, and compassion. Evey’s recognition exemplifies Bay Farm’s mission to inspire bright minds and big hearts through a vibrant Montessori learning community.
